A Double-Click on Each System
Let’s cover what these systems do and look at the pros and cons of each in the Boulevard vs. Mangomint guide.
Boulevard At a Glance
Overall score
Boulevard is an up-and-coming cloud-based beauty and wellness software that offers a strong toolset of core features like appointment booking and POS, as well as advanced marketing features and two-way messaging.
It natively integrates with over a dozen apps, including Quickbooks, Instagram, Shopify, and more.
It is quite a pricey option, however, coming in at a starting price of $175 for the lowest-tier plan, which we (and Boulevard themselves) don’t recommend as it lacks some of Boulevard’s best reporting, marketing, and inventory features.
Boulevard offers a free trial, but they require a 12-month minimum contract to sign up, so make sure you are 100% sure about your choice before signing up.
Pros and Cons
- Client data that you can actually use to boost client retention and sales
- Can integrate with a large number of third party applications
- Precision Scheduling™ tech to fill the best gaps on the calendar first
- Well designed & easily-searchable help center
- High price-point across all plans
- Essentials plan lacks many of the best features Boulevard offers
- Boulevard Professional mobile app is buggy & has low ratings on iOS & Android
- Marketing suite can’t differentiate between bookings from emails vs other factors (you may end up paying more)
Mangomint At a Glance
Overall score
Mangomint represents a new generation of salon software that’s reimagining what these tools should feel like in 2025, consistently earning the highest user satisfaction ratings in the United States & Canada.
The platform has recently expanded its feature set to include sophisticated marketing automation, integrated payroll processing, and enhanced client communication tools while maintaining its core focus on user experience and design excellence.
Every little detail of this software has been designed to perfection – making it incredibly intuitive and easy to use. It also offers intelligent automations that reduces time spent managing your appointments and business operations.
Mangomint’s vision is to make salon software invisible—so smart and easy to use that it essentially disappears into your day-to-day operations. Their recent addition of Automated Flows for personalized marketing and enhanced integrated forms with image markup capabilities demonstrates this commitment to seamless operation. This focus on user experience, combined with their comprehensive feature set, is why they remain my #1 recommendation in 2025.
Pros and Cons
- Modern, easy-to-use, interface
- Smart automations that help cut down on time spent managing business operations
- Open data ownership and no contracts (you’re not locked into anything)
- Can integrate with any other platform that allow for integrations
- Highest-rated customer service on the market
- Not for solopreneurs. Only teams.
- Higher entry-level price than most other salon & spa software
- Only available in the United States & Canada
Comparing Boulevard vs. Mangomint
The rivalry between Boulevard and Mangomint is particularly interesting because both platforms excel in different ways.
Boulevard is praised for its excellent online booking capabilities and innovative Precision Scheduling technology, which optimizes online scheduling to enhance booking efficiency. Their Front Desk view is particularly impressive, offering a clear overview of waiting clients, active services, and completed appointments.
On the other side, Mangomint has taken a holistic approach to designing their systems and functions, with powerful automations that save time while creating personalized experiences. Their new Two-Way Texting feature eliminates the need for staff to use personal phones for client communication, and their Express Booking feature simplifies the entire booking process for both new and existing clients. Nothing feels tacked on, and no element of the setup process or day-to-day functionality feels like a chore.
Both platforms boast robust reporting features and client data management, leveraging customer data to provide valuable insights that can be harnessed for business growth and targeted marketing strategies.
However, no system is without its shortcomings.
Many Boulevard users have reported challenges with the mobile app’s performance, finding it particularly buggy, especially on Android. Staff service enablement and scheduling have also been noted as areas with room for improvement, as elements of each can be tedious. Additionally, their most appealing features are often locked behind their more expensive packages.
On the flip side, while Mangomint’s marketing suite is newer than Boulevard’s, they’ve recently introduced Automated Flows for sophisticated client communication sequences. Their approach focuses on integration flexibility rather than trying to be an all-in-one solution, allowing salons to connect with specialized marketing tools while maintaining their own email marketing capabilities.
Likewise, Mangomint doesn’t currently feature an analog to Boulevard’s calendar Front Desk View feature, which we noted was one of our favorite features of their desktop app.
Ultimately, the choice between Boulevard and Mangomint may come down to a salon’s priorities, whether that’s the allure of Boulevard’s user-friendly and luxurious interface or Mangomint’s emphasis on a flawlessly executed user experience.
Both of these apps are limited geographically, but Mangomint is more broadly available, serving the US and Canada, while Boulevard only offers its software in the US.

Boulevard vs. Mangomint – Software Features Compared
Boulevard’s strengths lie in its robust marketing suite, versatile reporting capabilities, and sophisticated client data management features. Their Front Desk view stands out as particularly valuable, offering a comprehensive overview of salon operations that helps maintain smooth client flow throughout the day.
Mangomint excels at streamlining day-to-day operations through intelligent automation. Their platform includes sophisticated features like Express Booking, which simplifies phone bookings by sending clients a link to complete their information, and a Virtual Waiting Room that allows clients to check themselves in via text message.
Both apps have incredible online help centers full of how-tos and guides, support for memberships, packages, and gift cards, and streamlined POS and checkout support with software and hardware.
Mangomint takes a comprehensive approach to client data management, incorporating all touchpoints with each client into a convenient timeline within their profile. This includes every email, text, picture, appointment, transaction, and even submitted forms, creating a complete picture of the client relationship. Their new Integrated Forms feature allows for everything from intake forms to SOAP notes to be managed directly within the platform, with the ability to automate form distribution based on specific services or appointments.
The divergence in approach is most apparent when considering the marketing capabilities of each platform. Boulevard incorporates a robust array of built-in marketing tools in an attempt to create a one-stop shop for your marketing efforts.
On the other hand, Mangomint takes a modular approach, combining their own marketing capabilities (including their new Automated Flows feature for personalized client communication sequences) with seamless integration options for specialized marketing tools. This strategy ensures that salons can choose the best tools for their specific needs while maintaining a unified client experience.

Comparing Integration Capabilities
The platforms take distinctly different approaches to integrations.
Boulevard offers a solid selection of pre-built integrations with popular services like Quickbooks, Instagram, and Shopify, allowing for direct connections with common business tools. Their integration ecosystem is designed to support the premium salon experience they’re known for.
While Boulevard offers more pre-built integrations, they restrict API access and custom integrations to their most expensive Enterprise plan, which could limit flexibility for growing salons.
Mangomint takes a more open approach to integrations, supporting both direct connections with essential business tools and custom integrations through webhooks. This flexibility allows salons to create sophisticated automation workflows, such as personalized follow-up sequences based on specific services or automated welcome messages for new clients. While setting up advanced integrations might require technical expertise, Mangomint’s team provides support in planning and implementing these customizations to match your salon’s specific needs.
Integrations
Mangomint offers both custom and third-party integrations without the need to upgrade to the most expensive plan.

Pricing: Boulevard vs. Mangomint
When choosing between Boulevard and Mangomint, pricing plays a crucial role, as each platform offers different plans to fit varying business needs.
Mangomint’s entry-level monthly plan is slightly less expensive than Boulevard’s. At that tier, functionality is improved on the Mangomint side, with resource scheduling and check-in management features included.
While both apps are not at their full potential on the entry-level tier, we found that some basic functionality was stripped back on Boulevard’s “Essentials” plan, including multi-merchant transactions, commission tracking, and full reporting capability.
Boulevard comes in with an attractive starting price, giving businesses a point of entry that’s friendly to the budget. However, there’s a catch: the most appealing features that Boulevard touts are locked behind their more expensive packages. So, to get the full Boulevard experience, you’d have to shell out a few hundred more dollars.
Mangomint offers additional features at their higher tiers as well, but their base plan doesn’t strip out core functionalities, and even their most expensive, feature-packed plan comes in significantly cheaper than Boulevard’s.
